The return of Gaskin

Junior wide receiver Aaron Fuller will succeed NCAA record holder Dante Pettis as the Huskies’ primary punt returner. No surprise there.

But Petersen said the Huskies could have a surprise at kick returner Saturday — Gaskin.

In 40 career games, Gaskin has had the opportunity to return just two kickoffs (gaining a total of 16 yards on those two returns). But after years of prodding from his star running back, Petersen sounds as if he will relent and give Gaskin some chances on special teams this season.

“He’s just kind of worn me down after four years. He just will not let off,” Petersen said. “That’s what I love about him. He’s returned a couple, I think, in his career, but he’s taken 1,000 reps because he’s my scout-team returner all the time. That’s the beauty of Myles.”

That would suck for gaskin. But it's a rebuilding year for us and having gaskin redshirt this year would make 2019 even specialer.

KR isn't really a ACL risk position. And if it helps us win gaymes + improve his draft stock + he desperately wants to do it...why not?

Because I think the value he provides that exceeds the value of the next best guy is not worth the injury risk.

Because I think the value he provides that exceeds the value of the next best guy is not worth the injury risk.

I think Salvon will be drafted higher than Gaskin.

Gaskin's ability to be patient, read holes, then explode makes him perfect for being a KR.

All this does is make me think Pete is confident in Salvon they can absorb an injury.

I think it says more about how they feel about McGrew. We’ve always used at least two backs fairly heavily under Pete.

Gaskin's value at RB far exceeds what he can give as a returner when you consider there are other options for that role.
