Kyler Gordon, 6'0 189: He's filling out quicker than I expected. Already the same size as Budda was when Budda got drafted except two inches taller. Kind of an Earl Thomas body type. Love him.
Austin Joyner, 5'11 200: Solid 10 pound gain. Would not want to be tackled by this stocky fucker. Interested to see where he fits in the secondary this season. Please beat out Myles Bryant.
Dominique Hampton, 6'2 200: This surprised me. He still looks so lean in pictures. Could easily get up to 210 without losing a step. Might be the most talented corner we've ever had.
Let the brothas do what they do best and play with speed. Going to be a much faster defensive front than previous seasons.
Jackson Kirkland, 6'7 315: This dude was a huge steal. I think he's the real deal and the future starter at RT. Love the way he's grinding and transforming his body. He's not putting on sloppy weight. He's losing fat and gaining muscle.
Henry Bainivalu, 6'5 321: Oh my god yezzzz. Seen him in recent pictures and he's a physical specimen. Very lean for that size. Please just be the starter at RG and make the O-line complete.
Cole Norgaard, 6'4 300: The 2017 O-line class is legit. This is a former TE and high school basketball player. Very athletic and now has the size to go with the athleticism with years to go in the weight room. He's going to push Harris for the starting job I guarantee it. He'll be an All-Conference Center for us at some point.
Jesse Sosebee, 6'5 327: Looks like Boomer decided to go all out for his Senior season and get on the juice with the Bowman brothers. That's fine. You're still not starting ever again but will be a solid back up for both Guard spots in case of injury.
Victor Curne, 6'3 319: I can't take it anymore. So much good looking young beef. This kid is still lean in his upper body with so much room to gain muscle. I can't imagine what he's going to look like after two years with Socha.
Tuli Letuligasenoa, 6'1 336 Taki Taimani, 6'2 318
It's nice to have NT depth again!
Joe Tryon, 6'5 267: He's a physical freak. Kwat needs to coach him up and get his ass on the field.
Rich Newton, 6'0 195: Pleasantly surprised with this one. He does not look like he's the same size as Ahmed. He'll probably grow into a 210-215 pound back which makes me like him more.
Trey Lowe, 5'8 184: This kid is thick. He's already bigger than mighty mouse Chico as a Freshman. Stop fucking around with this WR bullshit. His vision and elusiveness are amazing. If he can get up to 190 I say he's a RB.
Meh. This is just classic confirmation bias. It's telling because we want it to be telling. But these exact comments are made by poasters every single time there's a new roster released. Sometimes they're telling, sometimes they're not. Time will tell.

Loving the size of the dbs. Gordon is much bigger than I realized. Taylor is a guy that tends to be forgotten a bit but I think he's as promising as anyone.
We're* not impressive at running back or linebacker. Those are the only position groups where the roster doesn't stack up in terms of underwear Olympics. I think you need three really good backs to feel good and it's possible that Lowe is #3 so I'm encouraged there. Outside lb looks a bit better with Trying and potoae being monsters and Williams finally gaimimg some weight, but it's still thin. Inside LB just sucks in my mind, and will for a couple more years.

I know we are supposed to kiss Socha's feet, but am I wrong to question the guy when we have so many receivers that seem way too light and ILBs that can't seem to get more than a biscuit past 220?

Too light.
I don't think you can blame Socha for the upperclassmen receiver issues.

I guess ultimately it's on the player to follow through and get it done, but don't we think the coaches share some of the burden? I mean, when we see the guys on the DL that were sluggish lose weight and the guys on the OL that were pushed around gain weight, don't we think that the coaches told them what they needed to do and it got done? That Socha helped design a program for them?
So I'm seeing WRs at 171, 173, 180, 186. And I'm seeing LB weights like 217, 218, 220, 221. That's pretty small for ILB. All too small. Some coach needs to convey that message to them and make it stick.

I'm just saying we recruited a series of midgets at WR, I think there's only so much Socha can do with them. Given his success at virtually every other position I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here. If he struggles to put any muscle on Spiker and Osbourne I'll be more concerned.
As far as LB, I haven't followed the guys at the position after Bierria and Victor well enough to really comment. You may be onto something there.
