Capitalism is obviously reserved for certain people
When your client has barely made over $30 million in the last 4 years and is only set to make $8.5 million this year, obviously capitalism is the issue.

Selfishness is probably the biggest. What's good for the owners is generally good for the fans, at least in the short term.
The NFL was just smart enough to know the downside to guaranteed contracts, and called the NFLPA's bluff.
With larger rosters, the NFL players have more players on the lower end of the spectrum that carry a large voice vs other sports that carry smaller rosters. This is a big reason why the league wins almost every time there is a dispute. As long as the NFL reigns, this isn't going to change.
Also, I will add, fans prefer non-guaranteed contracts. Unlike guaranteed contracts, teams can correct bad decisions and shortens the turn around time to being competitive. This is a big factor on why there is so much parity in the NFL. In the NBA, bad contracts can hold teams back 5-6 years. This leads to constant bottom dwellers, that hurt the sports' bottom lines.
