DMX lasted longer than 50 Cent but still had a shelf life. When at the top of his game Earl Simmons was great though. I think we forget how good he was. Dude sold an insane amount of albums in a short period of time, dropping albums like singles in a strip club.
It's Dark and Hell Is Hot - May, 1998
Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood - December, 1998
And Then There Was X - December, 1999
In 19 months X dropped three number one Billboard 200 albums, with over 13 million album sales between them.
Pretty sure he's still the only dude to ever have his first five consecutive albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200.
Of course, there's a reason no one releases that much shit that close together. The market was flooded with DMX and even though those next two albums went number one, we just didn't care nearly as much. But X's peak was as strong as anybody's.
X has also fathered 15 children at last count, so there are plenty of little ruff ryders running around out there.

What Snoop is nationwide Luda is to the souf. What he lacks in legendary emcee capabilities he makes up for with epic bass and great hooks. He's had more staying power than a guy like Nelly too.
