The first member of the 80's bracket who was clearly a bigger star in the 90's, Ice-T spent a lot of time growing up in Jersey but moved to Crenshaw in 8th grade where he was down with the Crips. T has one of the most interesting biographies of anybody in the tourney. Served time in the army, started pimping in Hawaii, dude did a little bit of everything. To me he's the godfather of west coast rap. When VP Dan Potatoe Quayle went off on T's single "Cop-Killer" you knew rap had fully arrived.

Big Daddy Kane is another rapper from NYC (New York could have filled two whole brackets themselves had we done this regionally...which is why we didn't do this regionally). A master lyricist, he co-wrote a lot of his Juice Crew co-member Biz Markie's lyrics. Well regarded amongst 80's wordsmiths, Kane often shows up on top 10 lists of greatest emcees of all time. His stuff is definitely worth checking out.
