Sure. There are principles that tend to move people left and right of center on the margins, but at the end of the day it's a paper hangar's errand to paint an entire political philosophy with the fringe brush. Liberalism and Conservatism are part of a person's political foundation. Any combination of these leads a person to the party that most closely identifies with these. However, political parties do change their agenda over time. If these changes are against your liberal or conservative principles and another party closely identifies with said principles then you should change.

The methods I outlined to PurpleJ in that thread for dealing with the scourge of extremism and socialism in the US are actually rather compassionate, considering the ruthless nature of the enemy. Socialism has already been tried and tested and it never leads to a good place. Concentration camps or starvation is the final destination. Modern day socialists have no excuses to fall back on. They should know better, having plenty of examples from history of socialism's failures and its destruction of nations. That makes them worse than the 20th century socialists, because they already know where this shit leads. These are your allies, and they don't think the same way as you. They only care about power, and are duping the masses again because the education system has failed. It needs to be reformed.
