Friendly (for now) reminder from viking superiority guy that Dutch people aren't vikings.

False. This guy is Dutch and he looks like a Viking to me.

No offense intended. We non-Scandinavians see a blonde giant named Gaard and we instantly think Viking. Plus it’s fun.

And to be fair, a shard of glass may not be a knife, but it can still gut someone.

For the record, Dutch people are fucking abnormally huge, i'm pretty sure there are studies about it. Paging resident eugenics superiority guy @Dennis_DeYoung

It's true for Northern Europe in general. Abundance of food and good access to medicine makes people in the western world less likely to have stunted development, leading to larger, stronger, healthier people on average. Cultural differences like healthier diet and more active lifestyle can push that a little, which can account for regional differences in a large country like the USA, or a diverse region like Europe, while better healthcare (and especially more access to it on average) can push it even further in places like Northern Europe with well-functioning single-payer systems. There's also a huge emphasis on recreational sports here, which probably helps as well. There are probably other factors as well, environmental like pollution, rates of alcohol use and drug use, etc. The point is there's a lot that can affect development, and stunt growth. Either way, it's has little if anything to do with genetics AFAIK.

It was mostly just a joke but sure.gif

Except that the dutch tend to be tall even when they move to other countries as a minority group, like say in South Africa or the United States. Which confounds most of the regional explanations. There's a reason there are academic studies in the first place trying to figure out "why are dutch people abnormally large/tall?" specifically rather than "why are northern Europeans so large?"

One is abnormal, the other is easily explained by environment, diet, etc.

Tldr it very well might be genetic or maybe not. Either way, chinteresting.
