Rome was great, but not military specific.
Funny how the greatest WWII movie ever was an HBO mini series. -

Band of Brothers probably hit closer to home than any military thing I've ever watched. My grandfather was a Captain in the US Infantry and served in France, Belgium and Germany from Aug 1944- May 1945. He wasn't airborne but got 2 silver stars, 2 bronze stars and 2 purple hearts and was in a lot of the same battles as the 101st was. He died when I was only 3 so I never got to hear the stories first hand. But watching this series was probably one of the best ways to see what it was like.
