People on doogman were saying Gilby was going to be "just like Don James." But I had seen him as a mediocre coach at best at Cal so knew this was bullshit. From about 1975 on teams like Nevada didn't come into Huskie Stadium and dominate like that. Sometimes the Huskiies would lose to poor teams, like Oregon State in '85 but it was more like they were good but having a bad day with bad breaks. The team people saw playing Nevada was just not a good football team in any way. That was when it was obvious the last of what was left of the DJ dominance era was finally over to me anyway.
