Opening numbers: 6'3" (!) 193 lbs, 4.59 40, 4.37 shuttle, 37.5 PB, 38.6 vert. Those are pretty ridiculous numbers. Very physical on tape. Not great instincts right now, but appears to have long arms which helps him recover. Love his ceiling.

His opening numbers are insane, it’s true. Kind of a looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane situation, though.
His film is fine - but without those numbers, it’s hard to get too excited.
I will say - Jordan Miller was pretty much the same case though. I thought he looked really mediocre (remember everyone lighting him up after looking lackluster against Folsom in the Cal Hi Championship game?) in high school - but Lake has worked with his physical tools to give us something special.

I think that given the crazy amount of elite depth Lake has built at DB, he has more flexibility to go after elite athletes who need more time to develop. Same situation with Titus Toler... also put up big numbers at the opening but the tape doesn’t quite impress yet.

Pretty close to my own thoughts. I mean, the "plays like Jane" kind of implies that he's soft, which I don't really think is the case. But he is really raw and doesn't quite play to his ability because of the lack of instincts and some lack of fluidity.
His footwork and play recognition needs to get better. He's not really getting interceptions which is a red flag, but he's still still getting PBUs just because he has those insanely long arms plus his catch-up speed.
He doesn't look like a guy that could contribute right away, but we don't really need that, and with his natural advantages and Lake coaching him up he could easily be an all-Conference player by the time he's a Jr/Sr, if he has the right attitude.

Yeah - my criticism is inefficient movement. Just a lot of being all over the place. I didn't mean soft so much as I meant shitty.

That's number 292 for those who are counting...
