IDK, maybe it could have gone differently. But trying to do it on the cheap with 140,000 GI's instead of 500,000 + trying to roll straight into Shiite majority rule was never going to fucking work. I like the 1980's chess map better with Iran and Iraq in a never ending battle of attrition.

Iran was going to take Iraq (in a few) and join with Syria which no one wanted so we needed to drive a wedge between Syria and Iran giving Israel a chance.

So far it has worked kinda - money is no object for stuff like this
