No fair. This was harder than Led vs Floyd. I didn't want to vote on this matchup. Had to go with the size of the body of work.
You went with SIZE and voted against the black guy?
What's better? 1). Big swinging dick that gets three years worth of tail, or 2) pasty, needle dick limeys that pull two decades worth? Still a tough one, I know.
Early Beatles was pretty boring pop-rock or covers of other artists(as was common at the time). Jimi was a much more interesting musician from the beginning. Really can't hate either choice though.

You have to remember though how much The Beatles advanced rock music from the time of their first LP in 1963 - i.e., Please Please Me to Sgt. Pepper in mid 1967. Sgt Pepper and Are You Experienced came at the same tim in 1967 and the Beatles were way past covers and teeney bopper pop-rock by that point. At the time of the Beatles debut in 1962- 63 Jimi was a backup guitar player who hadn't even thought about singing yet.
I love ALL the Beatles records, but, say, we rule out everything before Rubber Soul in 1965, that's still 6 albums that they have which are absolutely essential- i.e., Rubber Soul, Revolver, Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, White Album, and Abbey Road - to 3 for Jimi (plus live Band of Gypsies). This is no knock on Jimi, but you it's hard to top the output of the Beatles from 1965- 69.
