I actually like Elvis Costello a lot on his early stuff. But, gotta, go with Tom's overall body of work.

I thought about raising my issue with Tom's seeding, and even placement in this bracket (IMHO he could just as easily be a high seed in the late 80s and later bracket), on the main thread, but mom's basement won't clean itself...

Tough call on this one. He had great albums in both eras. Tie breaker was his debuting in the later 70's era.

Yeah some of these bands really blur the lines between eras. Fuck, the Stones still had big hits in the 80's.

This was certainly one of the challenges in making this shitty bracket. Stones were especially challenging because they were YUGE in 3 of the different eras. Somes Gurls and Tattoo You both topped the charts in 1978 and 81 respectively.

Unless DDY makes a Yuge come back, though, Tom is about the be facing the AC DC juggernaut. There aren't enough sorority gurls here to save him though I think.

ACDC is in some ways blessed by slightly lower competition (imo) than some of the other brackets. I still think they would have pretty much rolled anyway. The only thing in that bracket that is even a speed bump is The Clash, Van Halen (original), and maybe Queen (I love fags).

I should also mention the early 70's is absolutely stacked. Surviving that bracket will be tuff.

Kreist. Elvis Costello isn't even in the top 100. Fuck, you may of well just of put Joe King Carrasco and Wall of Voodoo in there.

Cheese n' Rice. The dude has a good body of work. Allmusic.com - which is the definite tool so far as I'm concerned and not overly biases towards old geezers - has him with like six 5 star albums.

Elvis Costello is the most overrated act of all time.

Someone once wrote that John Lennon passed the torch to Costello. I was like holy fuckall!!
