The Mrs lets me have a stash of 1. She's more of a threat to my liberty than any gun grabbers.
Sledog chinned that and clearly didn't read it.
Since Yellow and I aren't gay and have wives I know where he's coming from. You dissed that because your husband gets pissed because you spend too much on the 55 gallon drum of Passion lube. Walmart for you bitch!

Got rid of my Garand in 1992; just too damn expensive to shoot if you don't do your own reloads, which I do not. Very happy with my Mini-14, which is at least in the same family.
Hosted a Danish kid through my kids' high school for the last week. Took him surfing, to the Boardwalk, to the giant redwoods, and shooting. When he got back to his group yesterday for the trip home, the first thing he said to his friends was "I went to a gun range!"
NOC, I know, but the reason I mention it at all is because the morning that we went to the gun range I showed him my rifles and showed him how to wrap the Mini-14 sling around his arm to create a stable shooting platform, as is shown in the pic
The reason why the Garand is GOAT is because it's the one time in our history where our? team's (not yours @BearsWiin ) typically infantry man had way more firepower than the other guys. Sure the Lee Enfields and Mauser K-98s might have been more accurate at very long range but none of that mattered for the typical conscript. Private Grandpappy YellowSnow fought with a Garand against the krauts. Captain other Grandpappy YellowSnow mowed 'em down with a Thompson.

One grandfather carried a K98 until he got himself kicked out of the Wehrmacht for bleeding ulcers. The other built minesweepers in Duluth because he was a master wooden boat builder. FWIW, a great uncle was 82nd Airborne medic, so he probably carried an M-1 carbine (shot through the legs by a strafing Bf109 during Market Garden). Another great uncle was an SS paratroop officer, dunno what he carried.

I wouldn't think that officers carried something that substantial.
Just put my .303 Enfield Mk4 no.1 back into storage. Reminded me of what a joy it is to shoot. It goes right next to the Egyptian Army SAFN Model 49, which is chambered for the 7.92mm Mauser that the K98 used. That's the one with the worn receiver that makes it go full auto at times. Heavy, like the Garand. Still have two of the 8-round clips for the Garand in my ammo box, which I also just put into storage.

I never shot an M1 with live rounds, but in true BearsWiin fashion I was an extra in a WW2 flick where we got to shoot shitloads of blanks. It was pretty sweet.
