Why do we need fed money in the great republic of California?

I just checked LA County FY17 audit: federal and state funds comprise 55% of General Fund revenue (federal 21% / state 44%). The County does very little else other than running courts, jails, Sheriff, hospitals, and welfare transfers. Federal revenue is allocated based on census population figures.

California pays a grossly disproportionate share of federal revenues. If we could keep our (?) money out of the hands of trump’s federal shitshow, there wouldn’t be any problem.

Congressional seats are also apportioned based on that data. Supervisor Kathryn Barger said it shouldn’t be a political issue.

“This is not about documented and undocumented. This is about getting an accurate count,” Barger said. She said “this county is not sustainable” based on local funding alone.

Yes that's what the supervisor said. But that's not needing federal funds to pay for illegals either.

Federal and State law accommodate illegals. They also pay for them. LA County absolutely needs federal funds to pay for illegals. They show up on the revenue side (census) and expenditure side (existing law).

Again, LA County doesn’t make policy in these areas. It merely administers programs and passes through revenue.

California would be so much better off in its own.
