Hi. California was broke long before DT took office.

I’m currently on special assignment in the Golden State and have noticed Browns mostly man the frontlines, especially the service industries. Restaurants, bars, and hotel front desks.

Most Caucasians I’ve noticed drive Priuses, putting slowly down highways, passing the pumps, and avoiding the state gas taxes. Teslas come with big tax breaks. Energy conservation reduces smog and the state coffers. Those

Prius drivers, as a rule, already own homes bought decades ago at a fraction of current home prices for and pay a pittance in property taxes.

When your gardner, maid, masseuse, and personal assistant don’t pay taxes that’s a problem.

Excess and cocaine aren’t cool anymore. Eschewing material possessions might be good for the soul but it sucks for the economy.

LA County government exists solely to pass through federal and state revenue for health, welfare, and criminal justice programs. Its local revenue sources (percentage shares of sales and property taxes) fund local services in unincorporated areas. I’m estimating that up to 90% of it’s revenue is state and federal for mandated programs.

The Republic of California would stop subsidizing the folly of trump, and the waste and confiscation of our (?) money.

Congressional seats are also apportioned based on that data. Supervisor Kathryn Barger said it shouldn’t be a political issue.

“This is not about documented and undocumented. This is about getting an accurate count,” Barger said. She said “this county is not sustainable” based on local funding alone.

I just checked LA County FY17 audit: federal and state funds comprise 55% of General Fund revenue (federal 21% / state 44%). The County does very little else other than running courts, jails, Sheriff, hospitals, and welfare transfers. Federal revenue is allocated based on census population figures.

Yes that's what the supervisor said. But that's not needing federal funds to pay for illegals either.

Federal and State law accommodate illegals. They also pay for them. LA County absolutely needs federal funds to pay for illegals. They show up on the revenue side (census) and expenditure side (existing law).

Again, LA County doesn’t make policy in these areas. It merely administers programs and passes through revenue.

California would be so much better off in its own.
