Kid went to HS with Haener and Payton Henry apparently. This kid must feel pretty fucking lucky to have escaped that area with a decent name. Corey Luciano is pretty old-school.
I would bet money 95% of males there are either named Jake or have a last-name first-name like Payton Henry.
There are very few high schools that are slower strategy than Monte Vista.
I really like this kid. I knew we offered a while back, but I don't write up a post for every kid we offer. However, I think everyone should be very pleased with this.
He is a G and a mauler. He had offers from USC and other top tier teams.
He's listed at 6-5, 285, but I'm going to guess 6-3.5, 270. I like him as a guard CENTER in our future and this will begin to help us make up some of the damage caused by Herr Straußer.
What class will he be apart of this coming season? Soph?
Is he eligible to play immediately?
He graduates from JC in December 2018. So unless he went to JC as a full qualifier (rare) he will be part of the 2019 class.
In that area and especially that HS (same that J Haener and walk-on kicker P Henry went to) it would actually be extremely likely that he is a full qualifier. It's an extremely affluent area and 90%+ of the kids qualify to go on to 4 year schools.
He goes to Diablo Valley. Doesn't sound like a church school to me.
Diablo Valley offers a window into the ever-so-slight differences in recruiting style between Petersen and our previous HC. Back around 2011 or 2012, Sark got an early commit from a Diablo JC D-lineman by the name of Tui Talia. Talia said he jumped at the offer when it came to him and assured everyone that he was super excited to play for Coach Sark and an up-and-coming program.
2-weeks later, Oregon offered and he immediately flipped to them.
Why would that mean that? They won't even play the same position.
I don't think he will be penciled-in to play a single position on the o-line no matter what happens to the depth chart. That was probably why a lot of teams liked him.

For some sort of reference, Caleb Tremblay was #11 overall last year
