Why coaching matters

It sucks to lose a 7 point game when the coach pussy punts in the second quarter and the opponent goes 93 yards in 2 plays.

What's Petersen's buyout? Any chance to some of the boosters step up?

    THIS!

LOL. I love this argument any time someone dares to point out an area for improvement.

What is the needed improvement you are suggesting?

Stop pussy punting. It's not the optimal strategy for winning games.

    10-3 is cool though.

Climpson should have fired Dabo after year 4 when he went 10-4 and lost the Orange Bowl 70-33 to West Virginia.

Washington isn't located in the Deep South.

If you want to win a natty at Washington, you have to optimize recruiting, player development, and game management.

There's been one Tier II program to win a NT since TN in 1998. And it was in year 8.5 of Dabo's tenure. We had to have a few good (not NT caliber though) season's to optimize recruiting, which just happened. Nothing has changed with the plan; we are on schedule. Since I am a faggy atheist I don't expect miracles.

You're only in that game because of Peterman. It's not like 3 yards was automatic for Gaskin yesterday. That was a no brainer given how the game was going at that point.

Peterman is what gave you a chance at it; you were outclassed on the field for a majority of the game.

Honestly I just don't know how you can even give me this question.

Petersen is Mike Bellotti with a stable home life. You'll have some highs, have some lows, and a shit ton of in between. You'll be back in three years.

I just got back from an alternate universe. Peterman did indeed go for it on 4th. Jake got sacked, PSU took over and scored. Here's Baabs' post:

    Why Coaching Matters

It sucks to lose a 7 point game when the coach goes for it on 4th down in the second quarter and gives the opponent a short field to easily score.

    Right, just like 2000 & 2001. 2002-2004 is coming.

The punt in that situation was the right call. The problem was Coach Pete, like the majority of this board, was convinced he had an #elitedefense based on the dreckfest Pac 12 and the cupcake city OOC schedule.
