I still wonder what would have happened for that guy if he had chosen USC instead... He clearly still got a chance, but he had some pretty mismanaged talent at UW IMO.

Well, he wouldn't have played QB at USC. I think he would have gotten buried at WR if he chose USC. It would have taken him awhile to become a good WR, and they were stacked back when Stanback played. He bounced around in the NFL because he was a great athlete, but he never became a very good WR. Would he have played over Steve Smith and Dwayne Jarrett? Those guys were great WR's for USC. He maybe could have competed with Patrick Turner for the #3 WR job, but Turner was a 5 star recruit who played in the NFL as well. There were only so many balls to go around at USC and Bush and White had to get their touches as well.
I think if he received good coaching at UW, he could have been a very good college QB and probably made the NFL as a QB (I know he got a shot at QB with NE later.) No matter what position he played though, he needed a lot of work. Going to Garfield put him at a disadvantage going into college.
