Oregon State just told the entire coaching staff save the interim HC Cory Whatisname to hit the bricks by tomorrow.

This could easily be hesitation on Baldwin’s end.

He earned $650k in 2017(vs. $250@ EWU) and has two more years remaining on his Cal contract with all starters and 20/22 in the 2 deep returning. Cal’s defense is in a similar situation. The potential for Cal to breakout next season is strong. His HC stock over the next year or two should soar.

Oregon State on the other hand is a high risk move. Failure in his first head coaching stop since leaving Mosster level football could prove to be a fatal career move. Better to build some successes first.

Baldwin gets the Beavs to .500 in a couple years, he’ll be able to write his ticket. Worst case he has a lifetime pass back to Cheney at $250k per.

But, if he doesn’t, he’s out of coaching. Better to wait and develop more power 5 assistant relationships and a deeper resume’. Let the new guy drain the swamp and clear the decks first.

Be the Sark, not the Ty.

    Be Leach, not Wulff.

If he really needs to Beaver, do it in two years after the new guy fails.

Still no announcement tells me Baldwin said Thanks but no Thanks when it came down to announce and sign for reals. OS has had a head start on this whole process and still can't get anyone that they want to coach the team. They should be ringing Jim McIlvain's phone off the hook, but no one is talking about him. Maybe they are but they can't afford him.
Or maybe they have and He said thanks but no thanks. Now some radio idiots and columnists are talking Dennis Erickson and the Weasel again.

OS athletics are a disaster sans Baseball and Womens Hoops. It's pretty clear they are going to end up with a shit coach at this point. Hard to believe they were playing for Rosebowls a few years ago.

I'm hearing Baldwin watched the Civil War and tripled his price. Just what I'm hearing don't quote me on that.

Any person who would turn down a head coaching gig is an idiot.

First, 650k is jack shit in Berkley. Unless he gets housing allowance and tax incentives.

Second, failure at OS is expected, so he would go back to being an OC at a high profile school ...

Third, all indications are Justin Wilcox is better than expected ... but he can leave or get fired and then Beau is shit out of luck with 1 and 2 year contracts ....

I highly doubt he turned it down.

    It's division 1 football brother ...
