Tree wins rather easily, say...

Oregon tries again to get back on track without Justin Herbert at Stanford this week and that won't be an easy task. Led by star running back Bryce Love, the Trees are rolling and have won three straight conference games including last week’s victory over previously undefeated Utah on the road. With Herbert on the shelf the Ducks really need a strong rushing game, but Oregon didn't look very good on the ground against WSU and the offensive line disappointed.
Whether it's Taylor Alie or Braxton Burmeister at the helm, the Ducks need to establish a vertical passing game to stretch the field so that Furd won't continually load the box. That will be a tall order, but likely Royce Freeman's only chance of having a dominant game. Furthermore, Oregon's best chance of winning is to start fast and pile up an early lead while two of Stanford's defensive standouts, Harrison Phillips and Peter Kalabayi, are on the bench serving their half game suspensions. The Ducks will have to play at a very high level to win this one.

Well, I was way off last week. I suppose what we saw last week was why Burmeister was tabbed to be redshirted this season. However, time doesn't move back, it moves forward and as such the Ducks have a real test against the Cardinal.
Bryce Love is already over 1,000 yards on the season despite facing stacked boxes all season to this point. Despite a loss to a precocious San Diego State team the Cardinal look like a dark horse to unseat one of the Washington schools atop the Pac-12 North.
Oregon must take a big step this week and it needs to see improvements at QB and across the offensive line. Certainly, last week was going to have some growing pains, but if Burmeister can't take a step against Stanford the Ducks might have a rough month ahead of them.

Ducks show signs of improved health on offense, but the defense spends a lot of time on the field, and by 4th quarter can’t contain the Cardinal.
Final: Oregon 17, Stanford 31"
