I still believe in Darnold, his OL is a mess and he has virtually all new WRs. I bet USC's offensive staff regrets not feeding Ronald Jones more. They were just 2-11 on 3rd downs and have been bad there for awhile now; it's easier for green OL to run block and RJ averaged 9.1 ypc while Darnold averaged only 5.65 ypa.
Anyway, it's probably good for him to go through a period where things aren't going well because it is doubtful he will go to an NFL team with a great OL and/or WR group. Jets could draft him in the first round and then draft a WR and OL in the 2nd (they have two 2nd round picks in 2018, one of them from the Hawks for Sheldon Richardson).
Jon Wilner nailed it when he wrote: 1. USC QB Sam Darnold: Currently projected to be the No. 1 overall selection based on combination of his efficiency, upside, production under pressure and the likely need for a franchise quarterback atop the draft. Plenty of obstacles could keep Darnold out of the top spot, including his return to USC for the 2018 season.

To quote Bill Walsh (who was talking about Steve DeBerg): "He is just good enough to get you beat."
