We do have DE's. They just play standing up and occasionally drop into coverage. Everybody's playing with stand-up DE's now. It's the new trend in the NFL and college football. USC runs the same defense except they play more base similar to our defense back in 2014. Their "Buck" is called "Predator" and it's the same position. Hasn't hurt them in recruiting. Oregon is running the same defense under Jim Leavitt and so will Cal under Wilcox. When UW recruits high school DE's to play Buck or Sam it's a compliment because it means they think they are athletic enough to drop and play in space.

I know your being sarcastic but Nansen OJ plays played the Predator position for USC.
    Fixed that for you

He's a different kind of predator. Nansen is a teen boy predator and likely an adolescent boy predator whereas Porter Gustin plays Predator in USC's defense.
