Patriotic Russian Hackers Strike Again

Those rascally scamps!

http://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/336638-us-suspects-russia-planted-fake-news-in-qatar-report

So, the Pentagon refuses to say anything bad about Qatar, which hosts Al Udeid AB, and the FBI has apparently confirmed that the Russkis were behind a hack of the Qatari government information agency, but Trump is totes okay with the various Sunni monarchies and dictatorships blackball ing Qatar, because Saudi Terraist Orb.

I feel like Trump is the kind of guy who would brag about a deal he got on a rug from the souk, too.

The Russians are totally meddling in international affairs. Just like we are and every other developed country with a pulse.

    NOGAF, Hilary lost.

Russia has money again. They have their shit in EVERYTHING. Why this is shocking to people still is ridiculous.

Qatar is pretty loaded too. About 1/12 that of Russia on about 1/100 of the population.

It's not often a global "have" like Qatar gets fucked with. Clearly the Saudis, Emiratis and Egyptians have it in for Qatar.

Still trying to figure this one out

It appears there is nothing the Ruskie hackers can't do. Another geopolitical crises being blamed on the Russians.

It couldn't be about the long running feud between Saudi Arabia and Qatar over natural gas, specifically Qatars dominance in production and exporting which allows it independence from Saudi Arabia.

    Naw.

It's very likely this. But why nao? Qatar had 1000 troops with a Saudi led force brutalizing Yemenis. Saudi sent em home. The whole thing is weird and I don't get it.

The ultimatum to Qatar by SA might be a condition of the recent arms deal by Trump. SA is also telling Qatar to chose between SA and Iran. They have been playing both sides. The Russian story is a side show.

Russian hacking is only interesting in that the Qataris are screaming about it and the US confirmed that it did in fact occur. Trump visit might account for timing, the arms deal less so, since the "deal" was really just PR surrounding sales to SA that have been in the works since The Obummer administration and that may or may not ever actually happen.

Saudi's (and us) don't want Qatar to build a Russia partnered natural gas pipeline. We have pledged enough in military support to ensure that won't happen. Ain't rocket surgery.
