He is TUFF and definitely not a religious nut job.
Here's a real quote from him:
“There’s nothing in the Bible that talks about retirement. And yet is been an accepted concept in our culture today. Nowhere does it say, ‘Well he was a good and faithful servant, so he went to the beach.’ It doesn’t say that anywhere. The example I think of is Noah. How old was Noah when he built the ark? 600. He wasn’t like, cashing Social Security checks, he wasn’t hanging out, he was working. So, I think we have an obligation to work.”

As a film, it's pretty shitty. Comes off as vanity piece for this Nation reporter, Jeremy Scahill. But in it, he makes pretty serious allegations of journalistic interference and intimidation during the Obama years. He claims his laptop was hacked, receiving a threatening phone call citing specific parts of an article six hours before it was published, calls from the Pentagon telling him he'd be sorry to continue on a story, etc. Sheryl Attkisson, formerly of CBS, made similar claims, particularly of hacking her laptop.

The Nation always makes me nervous. That being said, Obama was no saint, he just bought into the orthodox center-right power structure that defines US politics.
