Jake Browning, QB, Washington: Littering a list with quarterbacks is an easy habit to fall into, but here's why Browning missed the cut: The best thing he does is throw the deep ball. It worked beautifully last season because John Ross was streaking down the field at 4.22 speed to catch it. Does Washington have another player who can fill Ross' shoes as that type of deep threat? Maybe it's Dante Pettis. Maybe it's someone else. But, if it's no one, I wonder if the best part of Browning's game will be utilized as much.

That Cal game was amazing from the end zone. Ross would stop, the backs would lose track of him and the ball, then he'd finally catch it when it got there and run around and away from Cal

I'm guessing losing Ross won't deter Johnathan "let's take a shot!" Smith from calling deep ball after deep ball despite having a noodle-armed QB who is fantastic at mid-range throws.

Not 1 game in 2 years. Hunter Bryant is perfect fix, target for Jake. Just fast enough to catch up to Jake's junk, big enough to go over middle where Jake excelled as frosh to perkins. If he doesn't make immediate impact I'd be surprised

There's a stat out there that does in fact show Browning to be one of the more efficient deep ball throwers in college football, so I could see how a stat geek could think that.

But as we know watching the games (minus the preseason where he threw dimes) he was lobbing ducks to two incredible playmakers bailing him out.
