In Lubick’s defense, Pease recruited the current group of receivers. Fuller and Baciella have played well given their limited toolboxes. Ty Jones has so far been meh. Evaluators had him as a big HS talent, prone to mental lapses and taking plays off.RoadDawg55 said:
I thought sending multiple coaches was common? I wouldn’t be shocked if Lubick isn’t here for long. We’ve had two years in a row of shitty WR play.bananasnblondes said:Interesting that Lubick is being sent with a babysitter (Hamdan) to visit Ford and McCoy this week. Over the weekend, Malloe chaperoned him on his visit with Puka. The only guy Lubick is seeing on his own is already-committed Taj Davis.
Either Lubick is heading elsewhere next year or Pete doesn't trust him alone with recruits.
I believe he closed Yankoff?
Lubick may suck but I’m not ready to go there yet.
Several thought Huff sucked, too. He’s demonstrated he can recruit the results from the development side—positive—recently kicked in.

WR play has been probably what we should have expected it to be this year -
Jones at just under 30 catches and 500 yards this year and 6 TDs
Would not shock me at all next year to get up to 50 catches, 800 yards, and double digit TDs -
I put 50% of his level of production on Browning. I know, water is wet.Tequilla said:Jones at just under 30 catches and 500 yards this year and 6 TDs

highly doubt he gets 50 catches. He has a long ways to go. Does not understand settling in the zone. Is pretty good for a jump ball on one on one coverage. The dropped pass int in the ccg was fucking horrible. Needs to be more physical and does not get separation.Tequilla said:Jones at just under 30 catches and 500 yards this year and 6 TDs

That being said a qb like Eason should help but there is a lot to improve on. I thought he would be further along at this point. -
If you put his production this year as a RS Frosh then that’s good production
He played last year to get an idea of what playing looked like this year because he was going to be needed
He’ll go to work in the offseason and continue to improve ... still a really young player -
Agree that Ty Jones will be substantially better next year but his progression so far has been slightly disappointing

They’re actually not that bad just so low ceiling. We could have a whole thread about Jake and ty but Jake can win big games if he has guys like hunter Bryant all over the field. Asking him to depend on Aaron and Andre is setting him up to fail. Once Eason gets in there it will be the opposite where he is carrying guys like that instead of being a senior and having Joe Ngata and Kyle Ford when you play Alabama.Tequilla said:

Did our receivers suck this year? Not really. But everything needs to be graded on a spectrum of “are they good enough to beat Bama?” Nothing else matters. -
I am big fan of fuller, very happy that the kid put all that hard work and is making the most of it, but we all know he at best a good #2 option. To expect more from him is unfairLaMichael_Corleone said:

People were skeptical of the Huff hire. He immediately went to work and proved everyone wrong. Not really the same thing.Baseman said:
