Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.
I mentioned that I recorded this so I am sure dozens of people are waiting for the review. It is actually pretty cool.
Phil Sellers, who in 70's lingo was a silky smooth shooting guard was their All American. Eddie Jordan, who played for the Kings, was on the team as well as Jumping James Baily, future top pick of your Seattle Supersonics. I remember when we? drafted him. I was pretty stoked. He could jump out of the gym. But not much else as it turned out.
The guy that started the thing rolling with Sellers was none other than Dick Vitale, an assistant there. He tried to get the head job when the coach left but they were giving him the stiff arm when Detroit called and hired him.
This was 8-10 years before the Big East redrew the map. East coast basketball was considered inferior to the Big 10 and Pac 8 because it was. Rutgers was beating up on St. Johns and UConn. They went unbeaten rather easily, with Princeton as the tuffest match up.
The tourney was one round to get to the Sweet 16. When Rutgers got to the Final Four they froze and got beat bad by Michigan then got run out of the gym in the third place game (yeah, they had one) by UCLA.
So they sucked but it was a dream season anyway. The team is often invited back to roam the sidelines. They really suck now in the B!G. Jordan was coach for awhile but got fired.

I have PMs from several very prominent posters thanking me for this post. People that are much better than most of you, really great people who say this may be the best post on the board right now.
