Curious about this. He's fast and makes plays. He actually reminded me of a smaller Kearse when I watched him play. He's a runt, but I never understood the hate.
Ty Jones just burned the shit out of Byron Murphy ... BADLY
I see Murphy as a guy who will get burned, but an elite playmaker on D. I've never seen him so I'm talking out of my ass, but that's the vibe I get from the reports and his background.

I think it's more a product of his aggressive playstyle than anything else, but it can be fixed.
You can't teach his athleticism and ball skills, which are absolutely elite. You CAN hope that he absorbed some of the mental dedication that Budda and Sidney had, and will spend the time to watch as much game film as they did. That'll be the difference between him being a good starter or being a future 1st/2nd round draft pick IMO.

Peters was kind of a risk reward corner as a R-Fr. It's a tough position. We were incredibly spoiled last year. Murphy will be good.
So far jags until proven otherwise. You just hate the poster.
Salvon will leap frog both. You would take Ahmed over both of them
Talk about changing the subject all over the place ... wow, just wow
You can see the talent with McGrew ... he lacks consistency and is the definition of make a good play then make a bad play ... his fumbling has stood out all Spring and it will keep him off the field in meaningful snaps until he proves to the coaches that he's not going to put the ball on the ground in game conditions.
Pleasant has some nice ability to him but he desperately needs to spend the next 12-18 months spending time with Socha to get stronger ...
The reason that I likely disagree with your JAG conversations is because of what a JAG means to me. JAGs are warm bodies that are there and entirely replaceable. Both Pleasant and McGrew have talent that would be taken gladly by over half of the conference no questions asked. That's not JAGs to me.
As for Ahmed, of course I'd take him over both McGrew and Pleasant ... but again, that's not saying that guys are JAGs.
Perhaps a better example, take our MLB depth chart right now. The 1's are Victor/Bierria. The 2's are likely Beavers/BBK. The 3's are Wellington/Eifler. Are Wellington/Eifler JAGs because of that? Of course not.

He's a guy that desperately needs to get into the weight room and add about 10-15 pounds of strength to be able to not only get away from any kind of press coverage or to contribute as a blocker in the run game, but to be able to absorb the kind of hits that he'll take.
The good news is that I don't think that he'll be in a position where he'll be asked to contribute too much this season so he will have the time to do so.
But it's very clear that he has good ball skills and his route running is definitely better than I was expecting to see.
He definitely doesn't look like an absolute waste ... so that's encouraging.
As for the hate when he was signed, my guess is that the balance of the hate came from the fact that he was so skinny that most just figured he'd get killed.

Murphy & Sample = today's stand outs.
McGrew and Pleasant are young ... not JAGs
