Seattle ... where you get rewarded for doing nothing and penalized for being successful
No surprise. Progressivism is little more than an extension of Marxism, and decades ago, Seattle/Puget Sound went off the political rails from being of the blue collar union democrat variety to the full blown progressive AIDS variant. There is now an open socialist on the city council and the city is led by a clueless little boy diddling "rainbow" warrior, who will likely win re-election because all the "cool" progressive cities have "geh" mayors. Christ.
I would be more then happy if the state replaced the sales tax with an income tax.
If you can't see that this proposal is nothing more than an election year gambit, then I can't help you.
The tax structure in the state needs to be revised to a three-pronged approach - sales, income and property with pro-rata reduction in the sales and property tax in exchange for an income tax.
The Sales and Property tax are regressive standing alone and penalize the poor and elderly. But simply tacking on an income tax on top of the existing regressive system is a pure money grab by Mr. Boy Diddler.

Agree on the Boy Diddler, and on the need for a restructuring of the tax code in general, but be careful what you wish for. A state income tax is a bad idea IMHO.
Seems to me, with record state revenues and growth unparalleled in the entire country, Washington shouldn't be in such a hurry to copy failed state tax structures.

You sound like you don't know any poor or old people.
It speaks to how fucking retarded the citizens of Seattle are.
Former Mayor McSchwinn floats the idea then Mayor Pedo picks it up and throws it into his white, windowless Parkinson Painting van because both know that Seattle voters actually WANT an income tax.
Progressive means communist nowadays. Seattle does not have the legal authority to institute an income tax. Why are communist child diddlers allowed to keep breathing?

That was my original point - the income tax is unconstitutional in this state.
But I am not philosophically opposed to an state income tax given significant reductions to the other tax sources currently utilized in the state. The gas tax is criminal for the condition of roads in the state. The property tax is simply a money grab based on subjective opinion of valuation.
