I'm hearing that this thread sucks balls.

Guy following Rondeau has mount rushmore size shoes to fill, and will never be able to do it because in the end their simply not Bob.
Goldsmith and Sandmeyer are both jag's as announcers. Nothing wrong with either one of them, but they have came from the cookie cutter school of sports broadcasting where the tv tells the story and you are there to just tell us the who what where when why.
Case in point. Rondeau did this for 37 years. Goldsmith could do this for the next 137 years and he would never come close to the level of Bob, Dave Niehaus, Kevin Calabro, Bob Blackburn, etc.
Bob Rondeau will forever be the voice of the Huskies. He is that good.

In 1958, Jackson became the first American sports announcer to broadcast an event from the Soviet Union, a crew race between the Washington Huskies and a Soviet team. Despite heavy suspicion and numerous hurdles by the Soviet authorities, Jackson and his cohorts were able to cover the race: the first ever American sports victory on Russian soil.[

Many crisp fall days were spent with my two dads huddled around the radio listening to Bob's golden voice.

When I was in the school Rondeau used to MC the senior banquet that the athletic department would host primarily for the non-revenue sports. Getting to hear Rondeau's legendary voice say your name and where you're from just once is good stuff.
