Fascinating look at the surfer skateboard revolution of the 70's when the urethane wheel came out.
Stacey Petralta did the Doc and was one of the Z Boys and had a young Tony Hawk at one of his camps. Hawk had a cameo in the movie as an astronaut they met who tried the skateboard and fell on his ass.
Not sure what this has to do with anything other than seeing a slum on the Cali coast is kind of cool and they dealt with crowded surf by curb stomping outsiders.
I got a 60's skateboard with metal wheels and like the rest of America we were done with that in a matter of months. The 70's launched the X Games generation
Also some cool stuff on a drought at the time that emptied swimming pools leading to "air" as the Z Boys skated empty pools.
Cool story I know
