Biggins posted that he is used to having parents and players bitch at him about rankings but has never had a coach throw a fit because his player was ranked #3
the way coach is using terms like "my guy" is really reminiscent of Togiai's coach in the way he is trying to own a kid's natural talent and then turn spurious correlation into causation. Thomas will project to everyone that he is both the reason the kid is realizing potential and also that he is the key to his ongoing development and future.
To me, that is the the sketchiest part of the persona he's putting out there. It might just be perception that we're interpreting Thomas like this, but since perception is reality on social media, they become basically facts.
This just has the feel of someone using a kid to try to get a better job or a cup of coffee.
Let me be clear, no disrespect to Coach Thomas. We agree to disagree. I feel my opinion on his behavior is correct and he's wrong. Can we move on now?
My boss will fight anyone who says I'm not the #1 gas pumper in Oregon. His ulterior motive is to keep me working hard and to make me loyal if the gas station across the street offers me ten cents over minimum wage.
I don't usually call people snowflakes, but this is textbook "my feels are just as valid as your informed opinion, so I'm just not gonna argue the facts and still say you're wrong".

I don't see the similarities.
