I played against Donald Butler and he was an absolute monster. In my early Dawgman days I called him as the 2 star that would make waves.
@AEB the guy who I saw completely take over against a team I thought was unbeatable was Lance Briggs at Elk Grove against undefeated Jesuit in the sections. Roided out Rieman got completely punked that day.
Story time... In fall 2005, Fetters was asked who the most impressive player in the State was. Locker, Mays, Schilling, Elisara. There were some highly ranked guys.
Fetters being Fetters, he answered with some B-11 kid that played QB, LB, kicked, punted, and returned kicks.
Not football but soccer. Played against a guy who was on the Canadian National U19 team ... dude was (insert Charlie Murphy, RIP) Incredible!
Ripped, powerful, fast, owned the ball. We were in awe. Guy had veins popping out of veins ... rumors of drug use were thrown around but this was the late 80's so who knows.
I watched 3 future heisman winners play in person when they were in high school, including Reggie Bush at least a half dozen times and none of them compared to Phil Fonua.
Mike Kearney FB from Kentwood may have not been the best I saw but was the least fun for my undersized friends at middle linebacker to play against and take on blocks. Dude was a monster for a high school fullback.

Just kidding, both are Dylan Axelson.

Richard Thomas at Kentwood & Mike Ewaliko are the top 3 I saw in high school.
