A great year for seeing rock bands who are old, rich, and mostly white

-Tool: playing the gorge this summer. Shit sold out in like 5 minutes. They're supposedly making a new album but they are old and rich (and lazy). They're live show is pretty amazing visually, but they still stand in one place and play the same 10 songs they've been playing for 15 years. I still coughed up my money.

-A Perfect Circle: touring this summer. I saw them at the Salem Armory when they were touring for 13th Step. One of the best live shows I've ever seen. Like Maynard's other band, they are lazy and are unveiling a new song every 3 or 4 years.

- Mastodon: a band who is not lazy. New album is pretty awesome, and is a return to the pseudo-concept albums of the past (Leviathan, Blood Mountain, and Crack The Skye). They play a pretty eclectic live set with songs from every album. Supported by Eagles of Death Metal, which is pretty sweet as long as ISIS doesn't show up.

- Deftones: playing at White River, which is a shitty venue, but Deftones put on a great live show. Loud as fuck. Their last album "Gore" was really good.

-Metallica: new album was mostly generic "trying to be thrash again" shit but they put on a great live show. Long setlist with lots of old shit.

    Fuck I love tool.

But you couldn't consolidate tool and a perfect circle into one bullet point?

Hell no, you sacrilegious bastard. Two completely different bands.

Tool and A Perfect Circle tour for money. Just play the hits and everyone that is a fan has a good time.

Their frontman is Nebraska classy. Owns the biggest vineyard in AZ.

I have one of his wines on my wine rack as we speak.

Would need Kim's input on Tempranillo though before I drink.

Agree on Tool playing the hits. APC's set is pretty eclectic though.

    What an aristocratic connoisseur

Get the washing machine sized Wine In A Box and guzzle it in a motel with some pilled out stripper whore - you can thank me later after she claws you, steals your money, and tries to blackmail you....
    Too soon man.

Fuck. My buddy was supposed to get me tickets for that and the fucker forgot. I saw them on the Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows tours. One of those bands I wasn't that in to until I saw them live.

No albums will ever beat out Aenima and Lateralus for me... but I wasn't about to wait at my keyboard clicking refresh to see 50 year old Maynard in the middle of buttfuck Egypt. Everything deteriorates with age. If they do have a new album coming out I'm sure it will be great like everything else Tool does, but live performances definitely suffer when these rockers get older. 40 year old Corey Taylor was infinitely worse than 30 year old Corey Taylor.

Deftones is good but I was never as big of a fan as a lot of people were. White Pony is still my favorite album to date of theirs, mainly because of his song with Maynard "Passenger" on that album.

Although Tool is my favorite band, I was much more of a Nu Metal/Metalcore type of listener. Slipknot, Korn, Killswitch Engage etc.

I quit going to concerts, mostly because I hate people.

I mainly only like Deftones because "my own summer" was the first song I learned on guitar.

Then I took up bass lessons and my teacher made me learn basically every song from lateralus.

Although I think he just really liked the album and thought it'd be fine to make some extra cash to be high and listen to his new favorite album while some 11 year old kid is pecking at the strings like a retard in the background.

    Abundance.
