Well let's see.... Most of private charity in the US comes from Christian Churches which in turn comes from Christian parishioners .
But I understand that you feel it should be the taxpayer that should be forced to give more of their hard earned money to the government so that They can decide how to distribute it.
I mean they do such a good job with it now... Why not give them more right? -
