    @Southerndawg is dialed in ...

No problem with wanting to fix and improve the homeless situation ... and if that took short-term tax dollars to do so then whatever ...

But we all know that nothing will be done and instead what will happen is enablement and the moving in of even more homeless looking to "cash in" on the free lunch.

How does he not realize that all of this money for the homeless encourages more homeless to move here? If you build it, they will come:

You think someone is overpaid at $137k a year? You sound poor.
Depends on what they're doing. IMO, that's way too much for a parasitic city government tool, especially since I'm sure that most of that salary will follow him/her/whatever the proper pronoun of the day is, in the form of a pension until death. But if the people of Seattle are okay with it, more power to them, they're free to burn as much money as they want. If enough rational people decide to LEAVE then maybe the city will have to curb its spending, or not, city government defaults aren't a new thing.
Seattle is one the most fiscally strong cities in the country. It's bond rating is AAA. It is not defaulting on any obligation now or in the future. It's citizens, some of the most highly educated and successful people in the world, are free to spend tax dollars however they choose. You chose to marry your cousin, and participate in the dirt-eating economy in the confederacy.
This is exactly what Everett used to say. Then Chicago HQ. Then blackmail of state gov't for tax concessions. Then Charleston.

And Boeing ain't got shit on Amazon. Just wait.

If you raise my taxes Special Ed can you, at least, run the bums in tents and RV's out of town? This is getting to be re-god-damned-diculous and I'm saying this as someone who is somewhat liberal minded in terms of the welfare state.

Nope. Not gonna happen. Homelessness industry is too big, employing too many people who will eventually move into a City job and onto the City's payroll, to be replaced by new college grads at their old advocacy organization employers. The die is cast and the script was written in the 70's. The bigger Seattle gets, the faster the cycle accelerates.

He's not proposing raising taxes to run bums out, now is he? @HFNY stated the obvious, this will encourage more to move in, and I'm fine with that.
I meant it more in a qui pro quo type of deal- i.e., I am ok with a tax hike if I don't have to look at bums defiling out beautiful city. But your observation "If you build it, they will come" is accurate.
Forget the "ifs." We built it and they're here.

We already enabled like crazy. Now we fertilize with Miracle Grow.

Time to revise to with: The more you spend, the more you get.

The Everett scenario is beyond your pay grade, unless you have lots of experience with union dominated towns, which Seattle isn't right now. It's dominated by large employers and financial interests right now who have their own levers to pull.

If you were out of diapers in the mid 90's, you saw Boeing revolt against the state, particularly the Growth Management Act that made them pay for freeway ramps and shit that benefited their employees travel to and from their plants, so they began threatening to build more jets in Wichita and Long Beach, which then Gov Locke capitulated to with a host of giveaways, including tax breaks, weakening of worker's comp laws, etc. Tax crunches soon followed throughout the state.

Even after getting a King's ransom from Locke, Boeing still focused in the higher profits from the Dept of Defense and with wars on the horizon, moved to Chicago to be closer to those military contracting agents. They have since built and expanded in Charleston, because poor, uneducated, white trash down their works a lot cheaper than Everett's uneducated white trash. But you know this, CirrhosisDawg, because you are the unrivaled Uneducated White-Trash Superiority Guy.

Skipping ahead, Hi Tech now plays the Boeing role to Western Cities. See Twitter in SF. See Micron in Boise. See Microsoft in Redmond (fucking ironically piggy backed on Boeings main bitch topic about the GMA and got the state to pay for their own overpass between their campuses! What a play!

    Coming soon: Amazon to Seattle.
