I was at the grocery store and the people in line were talking about the presser and how they liked trump for telling the media to fuck off. Seems his numbers must be up around my place.

So someone tell me why Rasmussen has him at 55% favorable and Gallup at 39%.
People will believe the one they like the best but is there some statistical anomaly that explains this
That Rasmussen poll with 55% was conducted a month ago, before the inauguration. This one with 39% a week ago.
So most of the change is due to people disapproving Trump's actual actions who were giving him a chance before the inauguration, but all polls are different like others have said, and this one seems slightly lower than others. I'd say 40-45% is probably the accurate range of approval right now.
The ONLY thing that matters from this new poll, IMO, is that 84% of GOP leaning voters approve while only 8% of Dem voters approve. Regardless of what side you're on, you have to admit that level of polarity is not where we want to be as a country. For historical context:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 55% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-five percent (45%) disapprove.

Consider me one of the 39 percent
that one doesn't include the gallup poll a week ago that had him at 40-55
