"Some UW fans, for some unknown reason, hate him and won't admit he's a great coach....well...you're definitely in the minority" -Scott Eklund on Steve Sarkisian
I'm assuming this is a recent post from Ektard in response to someone going off on Sark for either stealing Bush or Softy's comments yesterday crediting Sark for the number of players that we have at the combine?
It was from today. Somebody asked how the hell Sark keeps getting these job offers despite his mediocre career as a coach and the drunk stuff. Eklund also said that it's well known that Sark is one of the best QB developers and offensive coaches in the country. He cited Jake Locker and Keith Price as examples.
Didn't recruit either of them. What is Sark's QB recruiting record as a head coach? One of 9?

Sark isn't as terrible as most here think he is. He's average.
He's a fine coordinator for an average college team. He sucks at the highest level, proven again this year.
He's good enough to reach a bowl game at probably half the BCS schools.
Average coaches often last a long time in football. There is plenty of evidence. Sark isn't the only one. Bevel is another mediocre to shitty Coordinator who will have a job in the NFL for as long as he wants to coach.
There are coordinators in the NFL who have never had any success yet they keep getting hired. The first example that came to mind.
It's all networking. Coaching with Carroll in LA gave Sark connections that will last his entire career. His media hype has helped him too.
Sark coached for Carroll. Kiffin was a big reason for Sark at Alabama. Now Sark coaches for Quinn who coached under Carroll. There is nothing to suggest he's a good coach.

My favorite Asian poaster, @RoadDawg55 said it best. Sark is an average coach, nothing more, nothing less. Average gets you a long career in coaching. Where Sark is above average is how he leverages the media to make him appear better than average.
I know this is 100% because Sark likes to bro out with the media and doesn't care about wins, but to say that with a straight face to paying (lol) customers is absolutely bonkers.
Those dawgman guys are genuine enemies of the program. Fought tooth and nail for the Armenian fat frat hamster despite every data point after year three saying he was not a good fit. Held onto Ty until the program was already shot in the head. Ran off every poster capable of critical thinking and expectations. Play brigand to the first real coach at UW since Don James.
Their time will come.

Nuff said on that.
It's the constant battle between hiring on merit or connections ...
Those that hire on merit tend to get better results ...
Those that hire on connections often are in a position where they keep asking themselves why aren't things better
