We must trust Tump and embrace Russia. Because if you stop and think about it, they are white, just like us. And they hate fags as much as we do. What could be wrong with em? -
I was attending EWU (undergrad) when all of this went down. So, because we were idiots, my roommate and I drove to Ruby Ridge and spent the day watching this circus. (I think we were there on day 3 or 4 of the stand-off).
Some memories:
1. A guy named Bo Gritz (google him) was requested by Weaver to come in and mediate the stand-off, which he did, and he got the Weavers to surrender. A quote from Gritz, directed at the Feds and their ineptitude, has stayed with me ever since, "time spent recon, seldom wasted".
2. The blockade by the feds at the base of the hill leading up to the Weaver cabin was an absolute freak show that would have resulted in mass protests, arrests and violence if it were to occur today. Random truck loads of white supremacists would drive right up to the federal agents, jump out of their trucks and confront them. As soon as they would leave, a truck load of different kooks would show up and confront the feds. I have no idea how no one got shot. We stood there, about 20 feet away from the blockade (fucking idiotic now that I think back on it) and watched an endless parade of wackos come at the feds completely unabated for an entire day ... and this went on for 11 days. (Keep in mind that this was in the middle of the forest on a logging road with absolutely ZERO security until you literally drove up to the roadblock).
3. The roadblock was on a side road that intersected with the main logging road on what was a wide sweeping turn in the main road. So the feds at the roadblock could not see who/what was approaching them until the vehicle that was approaching was literally right on top of them. Groups of kooks would park less than 100 yards away, but out of sight of the roadblock, load up a truck and then run at the roadblock only to stop and jump out and confront the feds ... then ... do it again. There were guys dressed in full KKK garb, neo-Nazi garb, and the whole Aryan/Straight-edge look .. all that stuff. If that shit went down today, all of those dudes would have been gunned down on their first run at the roadblock.
4. The entire Aryan Nation movement had people legitimately scared in that region. They had a compound at Hayden Lake, Idaho and Richard Butler was everywhere. He was routinely on the campus of EWU recruiting and I saw him and heard him speak MANY times on the steps of the Student Union Building. Weavers alleged association with that group was played up by the feds and I think it kept the public from really rallying to Weavers support.
5. After it got dark, my roommate and I went to a small café down the road and at the table next to us were all of the wire service/print media reporters that were covering the event. AP, UPI, USA Today ... all of them ... eating and putting their stories together. Most of them appeared to be slightly older than college age and it was a party-like atmosphere. They were all collaborating on their stories and the goal seemed to be to get them submitted asap so that they could drink and fuck around for the rest of the night. (This pre-dated widespread cell phone usage, so there was a constant line at the one pay phone in the café).
6. Weaver's contact with Bo Gritz is what lead to Gerry Spence getting involved on behalf of the Weaver family. Even as the criminal and civil trials unfolded over the following years, there was never a groundswell of support for Weaver and his family. They were always viewed as fringe wackos who were just a sub-segment of all of the wacko movements that seemed to have taken root in that part of the world during that time frame.
That was crazy shit. In retrospect, I'm glad I saw it first hand, but it was a fucking stupid decision to go there.

Some memories:
1. A guy named Chip Kelly (google him) was requested by Belotti to come in and mediate the stand-off, which he did, and he got the doogs to surrender. A quote from Kelly, directed at Sark and his ineptitude, has stayed with me ever since, "time spent faggot, seldom wasted".
2. The blockade by the doogs at the base of the hill leading up to Autzen Stadium was an absolute freak show that would have resulted in mass protests, arrests and violence if it were to occur today. 4. The entire Quook Nation movement had people legitimately scared in that region. They had a compound in Eugene, Oregon and Chip Kelly was everywhere. He was routinely in the gay bars recruiting and I saw him and heard him pole dancing MANY times. Slingblade's alleged association with that group was played up by the doogs and I think it kept the public from really rallying to Slingblade's support.
5. After it got dark, my roommate and I went to a small basement down the road and in the basement next to us were all of the Hardcore Husky poasters that were covering the event. Boobs, Derek, Damone ... all of them ... masturbating and putting their stories together. Most of them appeared to be older than college age and it was a lemon party-like atmosphere. They were all collaborating with their dicks and the goal seemed to be to get them sweatpants boners asap so that they could drink and fuck around for the rest of the night. (This pre-dated widespread laptop usage, so there was a constant line at the one computer in the basement).
6. Belotti's contact with Chip Kelly is what lead to Slingblade getting involved. Even as the natty participation unfolded over the following years, there was never a groundswell of support for Slingblade and his family. They were always viewed as fringe wackos who were just a sub-segment of all of the wacko movements that seemed to have taken root in that part of the world during that time frame.

I don't agree with any of those statements except the Ruby Ridge one (and I don't even agree that they were good folks, but I do agree they were killed unjustly). So, strawmen aside, what is the actual argument that the government didn't murder these people? Or should I just put you down for not having one?Baphomet said:It is all part of the Alt-right, kkk, neo-nazi, christian nation, aryan nation, militia movement, mythos.

Right, but that's my point. One side only cares about using the Weavers for their narrative. And the other side seems to only care about using the other side's narrative for their narrative. I'm actually interested in what happened in these things (same with police shootings), regardless whose politics the truth of the given scenario happens to benefit.TierbsHsotBoobs said:

I'm here to celebrate how much white christian america has to be thankful for now. They have multiple martyrs they can point to as they foment how evil the feds are. And how Trump and the Russians are going to save us from them.
The left and right are a lot more alike than they want to admit.
The the american white christian movement is getting ready to march in lock step.
Because of our evil feds, and because the Russians will be so much better. -
If the victims had been Black Panthers with guns, instead of White Aryans with guns, would you be so sympathetic to the victims and so convinced this was just a case of an inept police action?dnc said:

The only reason so many white folks are outraged, is because this time, the victims of the police action were white.
