I thought he did a good job covering both sides of it. We all want Romar gone but that contract is a bitch. Still though hire the coach from Tacoma community college who gives a shit just get someone new.
If Coach Romar is not allowed to coach this incoming class it will be an easy decision for me to drop my basketball season tickets. I am pretty confident in saying that as long as Romar is our coach I will keep my tickets.

It's funny. The Seattle media is finally turning to the fire Romar side (even Softy) but any time they talk about it, they have to preface it with, "I'm not saying he's not a great man. He's a GREAT man. He's an ambassador to the game, and is by far the greatest coach UW has ever had...and a great man...greatmangreatmangreatmangreatman"
Hire a good coach. Fuck everything else, including Porter Jr. Getting him is a luxury. The rest of the class are 4 year guys who really aren't irreplaceable in the long run.
The reality is that the contract Romar has is an albatross and it isn't Cohen's fault that she's inherited it ...
If the Athletic Department was in better shape it would be easier to just move on and go from there ...
The only way this ends well is if Romar falls on his sword and "retires" to save face ... if he doesn't do that then I'm not convinced that financially Cohen can fire him and the reality of a full recruiting class going off the rails and gutting the program makes her ability to hire a good coach beyond challenging.
I don't envy the position Cohen's in ... it's really the definition of a no-win situation ... her only play is really convincing Romar to move on on his own terms to save face.

I don't feel bad for a multitude of reasons
1) She was an internal hire who helped preside over the current deficit.
2) It is her fucking job to figure our how to make the AD break even at worst, and make a profit at best even with #1 not being apart of her resume.
3) She is paid to do this work, no different than anyone else in a business world job
4) Looser mentality to tell people that you can't do X based on X. Winners find a way to make shit happen, losers look for excuses
5) If all else fails, take out your tits and dance on a pole for spare change
I'm not saying that Cohen is without blame ... she certainly has had a hand in the AD long enough that her hands aren't clean ...
But at the same time, when you aren't sitting in the seat of the top job, decisions that get made are sometimes made that wouldn't be the decision that you would have made.
You are right that she needs to figure out a way to make it work ... I'd be going out of my way right now if I was her trying to figure out how I could maximize revenues in a way that gave me additional options. There are opportunities out there if they think outside of the box.
