While I usually associate Baker and Schultz with Reagan/Bush 41 foreign policy- i.e., before GOP got FS and embarked on spreading democracy to the Middle East, there's probably some degree of validity to your argument here. Baker was key to GW winning FL. GW begat Obama. Obama begat Trump. This is a gross oversimplification on my part, of course.
