Won't happen. It's better to be inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in.

Newsom and Harris are a big part of the new generation of Democrats who will drag the rest of this backwards ignorant fucking country into the 21st century. Like always, Cali will lead the way.

Does the leading start before or after you fix your budget and solve your housing crisis?

It's not 2010 anymore. Budget is fine. Housing crisis? It's expensive in places, not so much in others. It's a function of local demand, and local govt. desire to build high-density housing in certain areas.

Budget is not fine. Check the facts.

As for housing, well agree to disagree I guess. Average joe can't afford much down there and subsidizing it for low income residents through state and local governments will be quite a burden if you secede.

You misspelled "Watsonville." The judges also would have accepted "Prunedale." You want to live in a nice area, you have to pay. Shitty areas are affordable, as always. The whole fucking Central Valley is dirt cheap. SF, not so much. Zillow has my hovel undervalued at $930K, but I can hear the ocean from my bedroom and we walked the dogs on the beach this afternoon.

    As for the budget, http://www.scpr.org/news/2016/11/17/66216/california-analyst-projects-2-8-billion-budget-sur/

Concerns, yes, but no worser than most other states, and better off than many.

California secession is fucktarded and will never happen. Regardless of budget or whatever, they are a net donator to the federal government. So they'll do just fine economically.

I'd be more worried about local government than state government. These sanctuary cities are going to lose federal funding, and many will spend millions in a losing effort fighting it in court. Cities like San Francisco will turn into Biff's paradise.

The federal funding is a low percentage of their budgets.

many of the major counties in the country are "sanctuary." as are a number of major states. thinking of defunding them is dreamland. it's like expecting mexico to pay for this stupid wall

That's a pisspoor article if you want to make me worried about California's finances. Again, show me a state that doesn't have some fiscal issues. $1.6B short term deficit? Big fucking deal. That's loose change under Elon Musk's couch cushions.

Now, if you'd have made the argument that Cali's tax revenue structure is fucked because of Prop 13 and the resulting low corporate property taxes causing the state to rely on funding sources that fluctuate with and are overly dependent on the state economy, then I might argee. But even with that caveat, we'll be fine, thanks you. If the Great Recession didn't cripple us*, nothing will.

So when the United States of Trump masses troops on the border of the Republic of California, will it be the SF fags or the lesbians who answer the call of duty?

That undervalued beach house of yours will be a nice recon spot for the Marine landing too.

I'd be worried as fuck if Texas bailed. Those fucks are crazy and would look to expand their borders. And also undefeated in war.

They were projecting a surplus as late as November, which is the last time I recalled seeing anything about it. As I said, I'm not worried about that small a deficit. Cali's economy is doing pretty well, and will continue to do so. Bet against us if you like.
