Wondering if anyone caught Softy's weekly chat with Petros on 12/21...I normally don't listen to his show much unless I really need a Husky chatter on the radio fix, but I do like listening to Petros and enjoy his sense of humor to some degree. Petros was telling a story about living in San Pedro, CA, and was describing the Korean Friendship Bell which is featured in the film, The Usual Suspects. He got off on a tangent about how you can't refer to an Asian person as an "Oriental" anymore, rather, just stuff like rugs and temples. Made reference to how back in the 1960's before the preferred nomenclature changed, TV shows like Johnny Quest would refer to a person as an Oriental with much regularity. At any rate, Free Pub for @RaceBannon .

    Handicap - I don't know what the fuck we're supposed to call these people now.

    I don't know why Oriental became a pejorative term.

    As far as African American, I've stuck with black. I don't assume every black person identifies with Africa. I could be wrong, I've been wrong before.

    Now I'm hearing we can't say sissy anymore because it pisses off my dads.

    I tend to try to be as precise as possible so as not to offend anyone. Amber, Burnt Umber, Desert Sand, Heshey's Kiss, Russet, etc. I find some people don't respond well to this, particularly the Mocha Cremes, but I rarely get pushback from the Double Fudge Brownies.
