Hawks have been pretty lucky with injuries over this run. No one in the core has missed more than a few games last 4 years and always come back at some point. Different team without Thomas clearly.
"And with the next selection in the 2017 NFL draft, the Seattle Seahawks select Buddha Baker, Safety, University of Washington."
He'll be gone before they pick.
I doubt Earl's really gonna retire though. He's an emotional dude and he's overreacting. Once he talks to Kam and Sherm he'll be committed to coming back.
Definitely suggests something serious where he won't be playing again this year, at least. Makes me a lot less confident for the playoffs.
Pete Carroll was asked if Earl Thomas has any shot of playing this season. "No. No shot. It's going to take longer than that," Carroll said. "He's got a serious recovery that he's got to go through, and it's going to take awhile." Steven Terrell will replace Thomas for the rest of the year.
I don't think he'll retire, but it does sound like it wasn't just an emotional response at the time he got injured. Last week was the first game he's missed his entire career, probably a serious downer for him to get injured back to back.
He's not retiring. Earl is a super emotional player and that's part of the reason he's so good. He's never sat out of a game until a few weeks ago and certainly has never had an injury like this. It's like when you wake up from an insane night of drinking and go "I'm never drinking again" because of the headache/puking/fat chick.

Serves him right.
