My god that would be too good to be true. But the issue is woodward would fuck it up.
This. Just watch him let Wilcox walk out the door and hire some retarded D3 coach to learn on the job again. I'm not totally sold on Wilcox, but I also think that you don't let him walk away.
Not sold on Wilcox? I'm sorry, but youre fucking stupid. UW's d has gone from the worst in the nation to the top 15, and made Hogan look like he was Nunes out there. The fucker threw for 100 yards at home.
WIlcox as a DC is a proven DC
That was my fucking point. Ive never claimed he was HC material, just a top 5 national DC
Shouldn't a top 5 national DC have something close to a top 5 defense once in his life?
Wilcox has been a successful coordinator at multiple schools in multiple conferences. The odds of him not being a successful head coach are really low. As HC at UO or UW, he'd have the resources to hire a great OC. He essentially would need to find an OC and have a staff of energetic recruiters.
And before SvenFS replies, Its fucktarded to point out a few bad games in his first season. This staff inherited a defense outside of the top 100 that should finish in the top 15 this year. And Shaq is the only guy they recruited. Just wait till they get their own recruits in..could be a top 5 defense.
If you think Wilcox inherited terrible defensive talent, you probably think Sark inherited 0-12 talent too.
It is a stupid line when you are dealing with a hack coach but Sirmon & Tosh have proven to be excellent recruiters. Look at the D recruits from last year. Very strong class from top to bottom. If we win 10 this year the next class should be even better.

Recruiting lag theory: Generally speaking, your results from one season show up in the recruiting class a full year after said season.
Having said that, the 2014 class will be solid anyway because those defensive coaches can definitely recruit well.

Fuck off.
Of course Sark didn't inherit 0-12 talent.
Wilcox inherited a defense with above average talent and resurrected its play significantly and immediately.

In 2011 we kept telling Doogs that the defense wasn't as terrible as they were painting.
Still had Sean Parker, Desmond Trufant, Josh Shirley, Danny Shelton and Justin Glenn returning. Plus Timu, Prince, Ducre and Peters were poised to bust out. They also brought in Shaq which helped.
He deserves credit for the turnaround but the defense wasn't as terrible talent wise as was being painted in 2011.
Mason Foster masked the D problems in 2010. He was making like 17 tackles a game at the end of the season. Jamora and Aieywa really came on at the end of 2010. Losing those 3 guys hurt.

Then why did you play the outside the top 100 card?
Wilcox did his job pretty well last year. Not spectacular, but pretty good.
I know it's the elephant in the room but we've still had no Dline injuries and our Dline depth is dogshit. We aren't gonna be this healthy all season
dont think this went unnoticed, when shelton gets a sprained ankle today, you will need to keep your prophetic comments to yourself for the rest of the season.

Sark is either Ron Zook or Chan Gailey.
