I'm not a big band geek, but while drinking my beer I was listen to the Cal Band playing songs to tribute the great musicians that died over the last year I choked a little bit on the last selection. . Last on the list was Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship fame. Jefferson Airplane was a local legend of a band. Therefore, what song do they play, "We Built This City". What? Kantner didn't write or preform this song. In fact the band was called Starship at this point because Kantner the last original member of Jefferson Airplane left the band and said that can't have the Jefferson anymore.
Being a fan of the 1960's San Francisco sound, I laughed and made fun of the Cal band. This was the only time that I received any crap from the Cal fans. "What's your problem?". I told them my problem...they thought and said, "We did build this city".
Whatever, and it's a cool story.

Go listen to interviews of the band about that song and the nicest thoughts they have to it was that they sold out to make $$$ and as a giant middle finger to the industry ...
