I wonder if the fact Oregon was hosting a monster recruiting weekend played into it at all.
I'd like to think it did. That kind of ruthlessness is a precious commodity. -
One of main issues was Helfrich. For whatever reason he still though playing Chip ball with a freshman QB and one of the worst defenses in the country was smart instead of trying to control the TOP. It led to a lot of extremely short drives and almost no clock chewed up. Petersen had no choice but to keep going.
I also think he did it because he wanted to give a big "there you happy? Now FUCK OFF" to the Seattle media. He said in multiple interviews how annoying it was that all people talked about here was the streak and when was it going to end.
Petersen doesn't give a fuck about some stupid streak. He wants to bitchslap Oregon because they are another team in his way on to winning championships. Nothing more, nothing less. -
