That 4th and one was such a bullshit play.

Overall I thought the play calling was ok. Had some serious WTF calls but overall I thought it wasn't one of Smiths worst efforts (still needs to be fired).

I also don't think Brownings play warrants many complaints. Everyone just waits for him to throw a bad pass so they can bitch about how much he sucks. He made some bad throws but he also made some good ones.

I probably have more complaints about the defense than the offense from the game last night.

    Brownsocks was ok last night.

You're right to focus on the defense. Giving up 28 to that mess was bad.
28 points without any special teams or defensive scores or assistance.

UA's average starting field position was the 21. Their scoring drives were 75, 94, 66 and 75 (plus an 82 yard drive ended on downs.)

They averaged 6.4 yards per play. That is not good defense.
I'm still scratching my head over why we thought a defensive line with three 300+ pounders was a good scheme for a spread offense. I don't care if they move well for fat guys, you need to get a faster DL package in there to matchup with a team like Arizona.
The good thing is the conference does not have as many running QB's. Dawkins is about the only one. I haven't seen ASU's QB, but it's nothing like it was a few years ago with Mariota, Hundley, etc.

Missed tackles were huge. Psalm is weakness that AZ schemed against. Most of those drives in 1H included a missed tackle by Psalm. Awful awful play.

I read an article on Texas A&M today and thought of how big of a loss Daeshon Hall was. He would have been perfect at Buck.

you needed to read an article to think that?

That's the one I'm worried about. He's also a much better thrower than Dawkins.

ASUs QB Wilkins is very mobile, he's on par with Dawkins

Seem to struggle against that type of QB.
    What type is that?

Sounds a lot like people that defended Jaydon Mickens with "he caught more than he dropped".

Yeah, sorry that I don't sit around and think about A&M all day.

believe it or not, half the board was bitching about it all game

It was better than normal but still too low against those Arizona midgets.
My bigger issue would be with the types of runs called.
THIS. Too many predictable delay handoffs where AZ's LBs camped out & caught our RBs at or behind the line of scrimmage. Speed it up with dives where RBs hit the hole hard and the LBs can tackle from the side or behind. 3 to 5 yards instead of 0 or 1. More Smiff fuckery trying to be too clever.

Almost turned the game off after the first 2 shit calls on UW's first series where two fucked up shit calls in a row couldn't produce a first down after 2nd and 2 if I recall it right. Complicated, mistake prone BS on the first drive. Had a sick feeling after that drive, but fortunately Ross's tightrope walk down the sideline cured it, temporarily, until VW started missing his field goals. Fuck.

I agree about some of the run calls, but let's face it, bad play calls are going to be made. We were finally run heavy which is what this team is built to do.

Browning isn't good enough to carry the team right now, but he's good enough to win if there is actually balance. If you liked Price, you should love Browning. I would take Browning every time.

If you haven't seen the formula on offense for this team is to run, run, run with Ross sprinkled in, I can't help you. We will still do pussy shit and get cutesy, but last night didn't happen last year. At least the coaches have learned a little bit.

Deception defines Smiff. It's so overdone it's predictable. And we watched AZ predict and successfully defend it numerous times in short yardage situations. Credit to Gaskin, Dotson and Coleman for salvaging something out of nothing several times on those plays after juking AZ defenders, breaking tackles and pushing the pile forward themselves.

The delay hand off shit also compromises Gaskin, compared to getting the ball into his hands quickly, and letting him find the hole and blast through it. (You're welcome, degenerates.)

Seems that whether it's a pass or a run, Smiff can't break the habit of trying to trick and outsmart everyone, meanwhile being laughed at for his predictability or confounding his own offense.

Yes, the offense was better than last year and good enough to win last night.

It's just painful to watch the failed execution of poorly designed and ill-timed plays.

    It's not Smith. It's Petersen.
Peterson is currently bulletproof. Smiff is walking the plank.

Fight a battle you can win.

    It's Smiff until it isn't.
