    Not your best effort.

    It's still fall camp.
    Fall?
    OK!

I'm not sure if we will have an Ask Stalin feature again because I feel like it comes across as a bit pompous of me to do so. I had plans for a different type of show yesterday but Koop had gone to the effort and trouble of PMing a bunch of posters to get questions. And so I abandoned my initial idea and went with that.

Quit apologizing. You sound like a pussy.

It was listener demand. And I hijacked the show.

They love their dick tator and want to get to know him.

For next show, can you tell him if Taylor Rapp will play?

    Hello Derek and Koopdog,

I enjoyed the latest podcast. I haven't been on the boards in awhile so I almost missed the the call for donations money grab for August. I've thrown in my contribution to keep this whole operation going. I just wish it could be more.

I realize that I'm not a regular on the board, so my opinion doesn't (nor should it) hold as much weight as say, uh (*struggles to remember a handle name*), @IrishDawg22's, but here are my two cents about the site:

    Definitely TL; DR...

Whoever told you about needing to decide if HHB is a hobby or a business is spot on. Pick an identity and embrace it wholeheartedly. There's nothing wrong with being a niche site, but accept everything that comes with it. Which probably means holding more of these "pledge drives" throughout the year.

Now I'm not saying you have to get all PBS/KEXP on us and mention buying a membership every 10 minutes of every podcast, but you should get more comfortable with marketing yourself. I found your site through the, um, let's say the one podcast that's no longer apart of your network anymore...podcasts are great advertising. Say what you will about those guys, but they knew how to plug your books and the site!

I don't know if this has been suggested already, but one thing I'd also recommend is giving people more donation options. Most sites/podcasts I give $ to give people the chance to give as little as $1/month (Christ, I sound Sally Struthers now). People might balk at the $129 upfront for Swaye's Wigwam, but may say, "hey, these degenerates are worth $5/month."

And yes, speaking a relative newbie, it did take awhile to get acclimated to all the inside jokes/references. Some people don't have the patience to lurk and learn the lingo, so maybe have a FAQ section? (I vaguely remember there being a thread that listed all the HHB most used phrases - maybe just link that in your "A Welcome Message to Newcomers".)

That's all I had to say before I LEAVE!/DIAFF/get AIDS. Forgive if it's stuff that's already been said. Thank you again for providing great content and an entertaining community.

    STAY!

A pinned FAQ is a great idea and all new registrations should be funneled to that. Make @TierbsHsotBoobs write it as he's too poor to contribute.

    Here's your pinned FAQ:

You sort of answered the question. In half-ass fashion. Glad to know you are the most transparent administration in history.

I liked the Gerberding statue getting toppled.

None of us know why we still follow this dumpster fire of a program Koop. But thanks for your service.

All I learned was that Koopdog is a cheapskate who's willing to ignite his nose hair to get three more draws on his 3/4" cigar nub instead of starting a new one.
